1999 Taylor 614-CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar

1999 Taylor 614-CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar

1999 Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway acoustic-electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 990921112, is in very excellent condition and features the first variety pickups that Taylor used in this series, which ironically offers more dynamic EQ options than the newest version. A new 614-CE boasts an MSRP over $4,000 so take advantage of this offer and get this incredible example for less than half price.

This example is in meticulously maintained used condition. While there is minimal evidence of playing wear on the frets, there would be no way of telling by looking at the back of the guitar. The back and sides are pristine! The previous owner put this guitar back into it’s original shipping box shortly after purchasing it new when the guitar developed a rather unattractive weather-checking on the face of the top, located on the bass side of the sound hole. It appears an additional, much smaller, check has begun to form closer to the bridge.

(The back and sides feature some of them ost attractive flamed maple I have ever seen! Look at the photos below, they’re quite incredible.)

I recently setup the guitar with fresh Thomastik-Infeld Spectrum .012 bronze strings, and it feels and sounds incredible. It is truly a fantastic instrument.

With the Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar the bold sounds of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce are enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body design. Together the woods create a bright, crystalline timbre with outstanding projection and warm overtones. The bright tone of this Taylor guitar is further enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body style with its Venetian cutaway. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The 614-CE Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Appointments include an ebony headstock overlay, a beautiful abalone rosette, white binding, and artful abalone fretboard inlays. Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar’s native tone, the Taylor Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The Natrual finish used to create this guitar’s lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
